Don't Mess with a Cold Blooded Bunny Killa!

Don't Mess with Jack!

That's right.  You heard me right.  You guys know me as sweet ole Jack, but I'm a cold blooded bunny killa!
I make em' think I'm just chillin', but I'm lying in wait, just ready to nab one of those baby bunnies.

Unfortunately, we have a plethora of baby bunnies in our back yard.  Jack true to his nature hunts them every time he is outside.  Poor little fellas.  I really don't think he wants to eat them.  I think he just wants to play with them.  He never kills the poor things or even breaks their skin.  Just carries them around in the back yard in his mouth, like the happiest dog ever.  And sometimes for fun he throws them up in the air like one of his toys and then runs after it again.  It's really quite awful!  This afternoon one was playing chicken with him.  It was just outside of the fence, outside of Jack's reach.  But it kept trying to creep under the fence.  Every time it did Jack would paw at it and it would jump back and do it again.  I finally got Jack inside before he could get his paws on it.  Oh sigh....

Ended up doing 8 miles this morning instead of 7, and then swam about 20 laps at the neighborhood pool (probably only about 400 meters) as a cool down.  It was hot, although not as hot as last weekend.  Getting up and out the door by about 6:15 am helped.  I was still drenched from head to toe and lost over 2 pounds of sweat on my 8 mile run.  The rest of today was spent with my wonderful niece shopping for her wedding veil and jewelry.  She is such a beautiful young woman.

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

  1. That's so funny about Jack, I could just see him throwing them up in the air, kinda like that Wallace and Gromit movie. My dogs choose raccoons, a bad alternative.

That's a plus that you made it 8 instead of 7 huh!! I waited way too long to get out this morning. It was 8 before I stepped out the door and my clothes were stuck to me like fly paper. I'll learn one day.

  2. It shows you that you can't read a book by its cover. Jack looks like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. He doesn't look like a serial murderer. But neither did Ted Bundy.

Congrats on your awesome workout! Especially in that heat, I cannot even imagine. You are amazing Michael.

  5. Could I borrow Jack to get rid of my ground squirrel problem? Surely they are as much fun as bunnies.

  6. It's like a cat playing with a mouse. Poor Jack wondering why you brought him in.

  7. Wish Jack and Tucker could have a play date.

Way to go on your training this morning. I really need to learn how to swim. I think I might like it once I get over my fear of drowning. :O(

  8. I love the pictures, but eww! I'm still traumatized by my cat's "gift" of a faceless baby bunny. He also plays with his food and once spent a long time throwing a dead chipmunk in the air and catching it. Animals are GROSS.

I'm not so sure about the bunny thing, though.

  11. Jack is so cute! My dog Frank is 10 months old, and he's got his eye on a bunny that hangs out in our yard. I hope the bunny is faster than Frank!

  13. I've got a couple little ankle biter dogs. More worried about them being the prey.

It is a rare day when I get in more miles than planned, so good job on your 8.
