Bustin' Some Bootie!

A few weeks ago I signed up for Amanda's Holiday Bootie Buster Challenge.  It started last Saturday.  It's pretty easy really, just track how many miles you walk, run, or bike or time spent doing weights or cardio.  You get points for pretty much everything you do and then you can stay in shape over the holidays and compete against others for some great prizes.  You can still sign up - just click on the link above.

It happens to be a bonus for me that I'm in the late stages of marathon training right now....so yeah...I can earn quite a few points.  And it didn't hurt that I had my first ever 19 mile run the day after the challenge began.

Last week stacked up like this:

Miles Walked/Ran - 45 miles = 45 points (1 point for each mile)
Miles Bike - 21 Miles = 7 points (1 point for each 3 miles biked)
Hours Strength Training - 1 hour = 3 points (1 point for every 20 minutes)

Total Points - 55 - Woot!!  Woot!!

You can also get points for 7 servings of fruits and veggies everyday.  I didn't really track this but doubt (sadly) that I met that most days.  So this week I have something new to focus on.

Hope you are all staying fit and active through the Holidays!  I know I ate enough this weekend for 3 people.....NOT GOOD!!  I wish I could say I feel fat and happy, but really I just feel fat!

What are you doing to stay in shape this holiday season????

  2. My exercise schedule rarely changes whether it's holidays or not. I even get up early on Christmas morning and go for a run with whoever I can talk into it - it sets you up to have a happy day.

  3. Nice job on the points! You got lots, especially considering you didn't even get the fruit/veggie ones.

Thanks for the comment on my post today. That's what I love about the blogosphere. You guys get it when I post something like that. Some of my real life friends would roll their eyes that I complain about less activity.

  6. Well done Michael!
There is little variance in my schedule, but I hope to get my annual miles up over last year- so that will help against the food intake part. Really, I could be more careful with food choices year round though.

  7. Maybe they ought to give negative points when we do something bad... um, maybe not, I would have a hard time breaking zero!

  15. Nice job on racking up those points! Don't feel bad about eating a lot! It's just one weekend so it's more than okay!

I'm starting a new program to stay fit during the Holidays. I just wrote about it on my blog. It's Jamie Eason's LiveFit Trainer! Less cardio, more weights...something new to me but I am really excited about it!

  17. Sweet! Keep up the good work.

Now that I've transitioned to early morning workouts, I'm sure the holiday workouts will be much more regular. After all, it's not like I'll be shopping at 6 a.m., so I may as well go work out then... and then shop after work!
