Disclaimer:  My goals, as well as race schedule, are all 100% contingent on my shoulder.  I haven’t posted much about it lately, but I still have no idea whether or not I am going to need shoulder surgery.  In everyday life, my shoulder doesn’t cause me much pain, but I still can’t sleep on my left side without pain and it still feels extremely unstable.  Certain movements still cause pain.  I haven’t been in the pool since August, so I don’t really know what to expect.  I kind of put it out of my mind while I focused on marathon training.  I am hoping to have my ART Dr. start working on it after my marathon and see if it helps.  If it doesn’t, that will probably mean surgery and I won’t be able to do any triathlons next year.  If that happens though, I will wait until next fall to have the surgery and continue to bike and run until that point….at least that’s the plan for now.

Have you given any thought to 2012 yet?  Any new goals/races???  Tell me what you are doing.

Oh, and if you read Jim's "conversation" post today, you were probably expecting a rebuttal.  I have decided that if he is going to continue to completely fabricate conversations, I'm just going to ignore him.  Well, that's probably not really true, I just really wanted to put this post out there.......I will actually have a little something for you regarding this ridiculous "PR" beard soon.  Stay tuned...................................

  1. Great goals for the year! I wish you the best in your pursuit of all of them.

  2. I like that you are getting the 1st goal checked off in the first week of the year. Hope the shoulder issue works out and you are able to do the triathlons. Can't wait to hear about the rest! have a great trip to Florida!

  3. I'm doing a mental dance because I know I get to run the Pig with you and I want you to make it to Racine!! If you were there with me, it would make me so happy!! I know that sounds gay but being alone is tough. Michael. Will you 70.3 with me?? HAHAHAHAHA!!

  4. I was thinking ... what you should at Disney is ... awe forget it!

  5. Such awesome goals!! You are so incredibly motivated and I love it. I can't wait to watch 2012 play out for you. :)

  6. You are coming to Racine?!?! I'm so there to cheer you on! Looks like a helluva plan :)

  7. I love the idea of running 13 miles at least once a month. Hey you go with the half ironman! Wow!

Doing a race a month is GREAT because it gets you to try new races.

  8. What a great plan! Love that you are planning a 70.3!

Holy cow on the miles you want to run!!!! I keep thinking it would be fun to get over 1000, but I just can't see it happening...

  9. Wow, that is some schedule! A lot of "firsts" in the mix. Good luck with your goal. We are all rooting for you!

  10. I'm excited for your Disney marathon! I did my first trail run last Spring, then a longer trail race this Fall - loved it as a great break from the routine.

    Great goals!

  11. Those are great goals, Michael! I am keeping my fingers crossed that the ART helps and your shoulder won't interfere with any of your plans. You've definitely got Disney bagged.

I'll be doing a post soon about my goals. It's going to be an interesting year.

  12. You inspire me and I love your 2012 goals. I've been trying myself this week to figure out what I want to do and where I want to go with this whole new running journey I've taken up last year.
Consider me a new follower :)

  13. Wow, that's a pretty impressive year you have planned!

Also, your marital blog wars are hilarious. For the record.

  14. ok like the beard man PR Machine's schedule this one will need to be revised....

why you ask? well because I dont see any CA in that list.

yes goals...but first I need to do the recap of 2011! like now!

  15. Don't worry - we absolutely know who's telling the truth in those 'conversations' and the truth-teller doesn't have any Y chromosomes.

  16. For December, I recommend the St. Jude Memphis Half Marathon.

  17. Great races and goals for 2012. I love reading everyone's goals and it makes me think that I should be listing them...hmmmmmmm

  18. Looks like a great schedule and goals! Hopefully the shoulder turns out to be okay. Good luck in the marathon in 10 days!

  19. Your goals are very doable.... I believe you can meet and surpass them! Wish you the best in 2012!!
