Where Have I Been? Abducted By Aliens!

I haven't blogged in a couple of weeks - which is a long time for me but I've been BUSY!!  And I might have been abducted by aliens.

Chatting in up with an alien in Roswell, NM

So what have I been doing:

  • Well there was Thanksgiving....and a 5K....and lots of eating.
  • Lots of decorating and shopping
  • Then I went to Ruidoso, NM to visit my parents for a pre-Christmas family get together.
  • And redoing our master bedroom....new windows, carpet, paint, furniture....it will be lovely when it's finally done, but right now my house is a disaster!
I haven't ran a single mile since Thanksgiving Day.  That is the longest I've gone without running in FOREVER.  I was developing a major issue with my shin/calf and needed the time off.  I've been biking some, but honestly not doing very much.  It's time to get back on the wagon.  I think I really did need a break, and it has done me some good.  Unfortunately, I was only about 90 miles from hitting my 2013 mileage goal and the break means I won't hit it.  But that's ok.

Remember Operation 40?  No?  Me either....it has been a complete DISASTER so far :(

With all the traveling, holidays, injury well it just hasn't turned out how I had hoped.  I lost my DietBet, but was happy  to only gain 1 pound over the course of 4 weeks when I was traveling 3 of those, and the other one was Thanksgiving....so really not so bad.

So, it's time to get my butt into gear if I really want to meet my goal.  It is still going to be difficult.  I have nothing but dinners out for the next few weeks...oh the Holidays.  But we have so much going on...a family dinner, a graduation, a Birthday, a Christmas event, and dinner with friends.  Tis the season.  I'm doing my best, but dang it's hard to do when you never get to eat at home.

That's it.....I'll leave you a few pics from our snowy trip to New Mexico.  It was truly wonderful to spend time with my Mom and Dad and sisters.  It's literally been years since we were all together around the holidays.

  1. Family time is THE BEST! So glad you got to hang out with them. Running will always be there for you later, right?

  2. I love that alien conversation picture!

I'm sorry the diet bet didn't work out for you...it's so disappointing to see the scale go the wrong way when you've made progress, but like you said, sometimes maintaining is a victory. You've still got plenty of time to hit 40 even more fabulous.

  3. Nice picture with the alien! Sorry you lost your Dietbet, not running makes it even harder. Hope you get healed up soon and back to running. A break sometimes is nice

  4. Love the alien! Time with the family is awesome. We also don't get everyone together very often. Enjoy getting back into training!

  5. That alien is awesome!

It's really hard to stay on top of things during the holiday, especially with house remodeling. It's easy enough though to just brush yourself off and get back to it :)

  6. Honestly, just staying relatively even through the holidays is a major achievement! And really, no one can fault you for enjoying time with your family when your hardly get to see all of them! Don't worry about project 40...it'll still be there Jan 1st :) Relax, enjoy and get well!

  7. Wow you've been busy! I'm glad to hear that you're taking the time off that you need to let your leg recover. So many people don't listen to their bodies until it's too late. Enjoy your family time and don't forget to show us your bedroom when it's finished.

  11. Nice pics of NM, and wow you have been busy! You do look just like your Mom. And for the pictures that I took, I was close to the action on most of the concerts and tennis matches, but far away at certain other things. (though super close up on Rose Bowl lol). Sometimes if I'm far away I simply zoom in super close, and try to get lucky with a picture lol. I took 5000 pictures last year, and I only posted 100, so 2% of them =). The camera I use is a regular point and shoot - Canon Powershot SX 230 IS. I like it since it's not as big as a DSLR, but it still gets HD quality pictures and video. And I bought this in 2010, so there are likely better one's out there now - camera technology advances super fast.

Side note - but Rose Bowl tickets seem to be the hardest ticket to get in sports right now, the seats I had last year are going for something like $4K. Wow. We were lucky to get seats for this years game too.
